While negotiations are difficult within the New Popular Front to designate the name of a Prime Minister to propose to Emmanuel Macron, the Minister responsible for Equality between Women and Men and the Fight against Discrimination Aurore Bergé points out, Friday July 12 on franceinfo, “the need to form a government that guarantees stability for our country”.

The Renaissance MP for Yvelines is already warning that “If tomorrow a government were to be formed with, within it, even just one Secretary of State from La France Insoumise, we would immediately file a motion of censure”.

Aurore Bergé claims that “La France insoumise has stirred up anti-Semitism, even legitimized anti-Semitism” throughout the campaign leading up to the European elections. “So what we are saying to the New Popular Front is be careful (…) if you want to force things, if you absolutely want to appoint rebellious ministers in this government, then we can clearly see the difficulties that this would cause and the instability that this would generate.”she continues.

“There are two blocs that can have a relative majority [à l’Assemblée]not absolute. No one will be able to count to 289 deputies, that’s for sure”judges the minister, citing “the central block”, comprising the presidential group and part of the right, and the New Popular Front, which came out on top in the legislative elections. “I have no problem being an opposition MP tomorrow if a new Popular Front government were to be formed”assures Aurore Bergé, who has just been re-elected as MP for Yvelines thanks to the withdrawal of the LFI candidate in the second round. “On the other hand, as a member of parliament and as a political leader, I set limits and I say it very clearly: if there were a member of La France Insoumise who became a member of the government, for the sake of clarity for the French people, of conviction and of coherence, then this government would be immediately censored,” she explains.

Aurore Bergé also opposes the application of the New Popular Front program which, according to her, would “run a risk in the country : I don’t believe that our artisans and our traders could bear the weight of having a minimum wage of 1,600 euros from this summer”she says.
