The bronze medalist in the 110m hurdles at the Rio Olympics, Dimitri Bascou, tested positive for steroids following an anti-doping test, franceinfo: sport learned, Tuesday April 9. The French hurdler received notification of his positive test last Friday from the French Anti-Doping Agency (AFLD). According to our information, the origin is possibly linked to a food supplement, although the check was carried out on January 28 during a competition in Val-de-Reuil (Eure).

“I am amazedwonders Dimitri Bascou to franceinfo: sport. In more than fifteen years of career, I have not had a single misstep. I am always very vigilant. I have always respected the anti-doping rules.”

“I have never had any problems with no shows or during unannounced checks. First of all, I have to meet the AFLD next week to explore all the avenues that could explain this abnormal check.”

“The preferred route is of course a food supplement, he continues. However, I am very careful with the brands I have worked with for years. I haven’t recently taken any new products compared to usual. I will speak again after the meeting with the AFLD.” Dimitri Bascou was aiming, at the age of 36, to qualify for the Paris 2024 Games. Last October, he launched an online prize pool to help him finance his preparation for the event.
