I’m coming back to Montreal! | The Journal of Montreal

On the theme “I’m coming back to Montreal”, the Montreal Sports Council and the City of Montreal paid tribute to some twenty Olympic and Paralympic athletes and coaches who took part in the Beijing Games this winter. The Conseil du sport de Montréal financially supports hundreds of next-generation athletes, while supporting dozens of sports clubs.

Montreal Mayor Valérie Plante is flanked by Olympic champions Ann-Renée Desbiens, Mélodie Daoust and Marie-Philip Poulin.

The Mayor of Montreal, Valérie Plante, is surrounded by Caroline Bourgeois, Vice-President of the Executive Committee at the City of Montreal, Honorary President Karl Blackburn, President and CEO of the CPQ, and the President of the Board of the Council Montreal Sports, Danièle Sauvageau.


Figure skaters Marjorie Lajoie and Zachary Lagha are supported by coaches Pascal Denis and Josée Piché.


The dynamic Marie-Philip Poulin won four Olympic medals, three gold and one silver, and her teammate, goaltender Ann-Renée Desbiens, won a silver and a gold medal.


Para hockey medalist at the Paralympic Games Anton Jacobs-Webb is accompanied by Jules Lefebvre, snowboarder, who was competing in his first Games.


Short track skating can count on Alyson Charles and Danaé Blais.


Figure skaters Laurence Fournier Beaudry and Nikolaj Sorensen have been partners for nearly 10 years.


The evening was brilliantly hosted by Olympian Caroline Calvé and Bruno Gervais.
