The Police Department of the City of Montreal (SPVM) carried out a search of illicit cannabis at the Green Cross clinic on Tuesday evening.
The police operation was still in progress around 6 p.m. In the clinic on rue Ontario, at the corner of rue Frontenac, police were carrying several large bags containing illicit cannabis. Details of the seizure have not yet been released. An official report should be released in the coming days by the SPVM.
This is not the first time that a branch of the Green Cross, which presents itself as a medical cannabis clinic, has been the subject of a search. In 2017, the Quebec police seized several items, including cannabis and derivatives, in the branch on rue Saint-Vallier Ouest, in the capital.
The clinic does not hold a license from Health Canada, but it had been tolerated for several years by law enforcement authorities. On its site, it says that it offers various products and services, including medical marijuana, herbal medicines and a specialized cannabis caterer.
