Their condition deteriorated rapidly, to the point of becoming fatal. Victim of the Covid-19 pandemic, Grichka Bogdanoff died the first, on December 28, 2021, at the age of 72. He was followed closely by his twin Igor, who succumbed to the virus on January 3. Decidedly, these two were inseparable, in life as in death. They spent their last days together … although separated by a few partitions.
Igor Bogdanoff had tested negative for Covid-19 on December 10, 2021 and he did not start feeling feverish until the next day. Grichka was the first to be hospitalized, under X, to preserve his anonymity, as detailed in the magazine Paris Match January 6. We also learn that it was he who convinced Igor to be taken care of as well, in the greatest discretion. The twins supported each other, as best they could, during this harsh time of isolation.
“Nurses have never had such talkative patients, we say in Paris Match. Hanging from the phone, the twins maintain this constant connection from room to room and comment on absolutely everything. They have ditched the headset and are using the old handsets. They analyze, compare and ask, phlegmatic: ‘How much oxygen have you been using?‘”
On Wednesday January 5 already, on BFMTV, the ex-wife of Igor Bogdanoff confided to what extent the two science-loving hosts remained united until the end. “They called each other, they gave each other news, they were a few rooms apart. It was both tragic and so moving“, recounted Amélie de Bourbon-Parme. Placed in an artificial coma when Grichka died, Igor in turn left, surrounded by his family. The funeral of Igor and Grichka Bogdanoff – Bogdanov – will be held on January 10 at 3 p.m., in the Church of the Madeleine in Paris, as confirmed by the family of the brothers on BFMTV.
