“If there is a coalition, it cannot be a submission”warned this Monday, May 2 the socialist senator Rachid Temal on franceinfo, while the negotiations between the Socialist Party and La France insoumise resumed this Monday morning for the legislative elections.
According to the elected socialist, a possible coalition of his party with that of Jean-Luc Mélenchon should not be “a submission behind a logo, to the point of sacrificing the different political formations that exist in our country and act on a daily basis“.

Rachid Temal recalls that the Socialist Party is “the second political force in terms of local elected representatives in France with five regional presidents, a third of the departments and hundreds of municipalities“. He estimates that “the PS cannot disappear during the legislative elections, because there are things to say“, even if he recognizes that”it will have to be completely overhauled“.
“Yes to the Union of the left, as long as it is serious and plausible“, also declares the senator, who conditions this union to “a clear programmatic base with precise commitments“.
“We can’t just say ‘we go to the left together’, there are real fundamental questions”
The elected official also listed the disagreements, in particular on the exit in 2030 from nuclear power and the disobedience of the European treaties.
The socialist senator finally expressed reservations about the method of negotiations: “I call for all the parties to meet around the same table and decide on the five measures that we see ourselves taking together. Otherwise it will be a game of dupes and the bill will be paid by the French”.
