Laurent Ruquier has continued to surprise since 2023. First presenter on the BFM TV news channel, then juror of a competition in Mask Singer, and finally, candidate and winner in the strategy game on M6, Les Traitres. Here he is now on TF1, hosting a new program, Le Master of the Game, broadcast Friday October 11 at 9:10 p.m. and based, again, on an investigation carried out by celebrities.
“TF1 asked me, not to investigate, but to be the master of ceremonies for a group of 12 investigators who will try to find out who invited them”rejoices Laurent Ruquier. In this new game, which takes place in an old house in the Paris suburbs, the winner will win 100,000 euros to an association of their choice. If the investigators imagine that they are all playing on equal terms. There is, however, among them a saboteur, the host’s accomplice, whom they must unmask.
The concept of the show is 100% French and this is what attracted Laurent Ruquier. “I think we buy too many products abroad, even though we know how to make shows and create them”he said. The host also specifies that he is not under contract with TF1, “I’m free, then if TF1 offers me a good contract, we’ll see…” However, he knows that he is one of the potential jurors for the next season of Mask Singer. “I’d be happy to be offered it again, but it’s a question of balance and it’s going to depend on who the other jurors are.”
The host therefore finds himself once again in a show where lies, betrayal and deception permeate, with, nevertheless, a good dose of humor. “It’s a reflection of societyhe explains. The strength of this program is that the 12 candidate investigators are really funny people, they are whimsical and humorous. They investigate seriously, but they don’t take themselves seriously.“Chantal Ladesou, Jeanfi Janssens, Max Boublil, Valérie Damidot, Francis Perrin and even Arnaud Ducret will have to investigate with clues, enigmas and they will be eliminated or not, at the ceremony of suspicion.
In The Master of the Game, there is a sequence that does not exist anywhere else, a wall with 100 lit faces of personalities. “It’s really the climax of the show and it’s incredibly beautiful.” marvels Laurent Ruquier. Faces very well known to all viewers, which will allow them to “play because they know that the one we have to guess, the one who invited us all to this famous domain, is one of the 100 faces”he explains.
