Since Judith Godrèche’s revelations about the alleged assaults she suffered at the hands of filmmakers Benoît Jacquot and Jacques Doillon, and her speech at the 49th César ceremony, the MeToo subject is more than ever at the center of attention.
In fact, certain actors, directors, and other cinema personalities talk about their experiences or the advice they give to their children to avoid being subjected to possible attacks. This Monday March 4, 2024, the actor Mathieu Kassovitz
was invited to The Big Mouths
on RMC to debate the subject. After giving his opinion, the director of Hate visibly favored violence to defend himself in certain situations. An opinion that Flora Ghebali does not share.

Matthieu Kassovitz advises his daughters to “defend themselves”
“If there are already witnesses of violence, as you say, if a woman takes a hand to her ass and puts a slap in her mouth, to quote you, it stops… If there is a comrade in the room who tells her ‘you don’t have the right to do that’, that stops too. I’d rather we eradicate violence instead”confided the former press secretary under the mandate of François Hollande.
But Mathieu Kassovitz does not agree with this view. “You can’t eradicate violence from the guy who puts his hand up his ass, since he doesn’t understand”he initially assured before adding: “The real scale of value is, you put a hand on your ass, the woman slaps her in the face. If you move an ear, there is someone behind you who protects you. But first, the woman must not protect herself by wondering who will protect her.”.
To support and justify his remarks, the director gave the example of his daughters Carmen and Ava. Mathieu Kassovitz explained that his arguments are those given to his offspring: “That’s what I teach my daughters. We put a hand up your ass, no one has the right […] ‘type my daughter, you will calculate later’“. An opinion far from being shared on set.
