Intense emotion at the Théâtre du Châtelet. Three months after his operation for testicular cancer, Sébastien Haller appeared at the Ballon d’Or ceremony on Monday, October 17 in Paris.

“Today if I’m here, it’s because everything is fine and things are going as well as possible” reassured the Ivorian striker from Borussia Dortmund, before presenting the Yachine trophy, rewarding the best goalkeeper of the season, to Thibaut Courtois.

“It’s important to be there, at these kinds of ceremonies to show that we are strong” the 28-year-old continued. “We represent a lot of people, I had to be present”. Long applauded by the public, Sébastien Haller, whose shaved head reflects the scars of his operation, also ranked in thirteenth place for the Ballon d’Or 2022.
