In its strategy, the Israeli army is targeting underground targets on Saturday October 28, because Gaza has hundreds of kilometers of tunnels, sometimes dug 40 meters underground. An impressive building nicknamed “the Gaza metro”.
They were the target of the bombings on the night of October 27 to 28: the Hamas tunnels. Israeli artillery claims to have targeted 150 of these underground circuits. Destroying them is a challenge, especially since the galleries lead to surprising places like the Al Shifa hospital. In any case, this is what the Israeli army is saying.
“It’s very classic”
The IDF has modeled tunnels that would lie beneath the hospital and connect command centers located in the basement. But the Israeli army does not provide decisive evidence. In the military community, these claims are considered credible. “It’s very classic, we had the same case in Syria, where the jihadist movements were also hidden in a hospital”says Dominique Trinquant, former head of the French mission to the UN.
