In the West Bank, the Israeli army continues another offensive. In four days, at least 20 leaders and members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad have been killed.

The manhunt ended on Friday evening, August 30: the Hamas commander in the city of Jenin was killed. Two of his men tried to flee before being killed in turn by an Israeli strike. According to Israel, around twenty leaders and members of Hamas and Islamic Jihad have been killed in four days in the West Bank.

An Israeli operation called “counter-terrorism”, the most important in the region since October 7. It was launched simultaneously in three cities: near Tubas, in Tulkarm and in Jenin, where the fighting and arrests are concentrated today. Some residents were forced to evacuate. Near Tulkarm, where the army withdrew, the clashes left devastated streets.

For the Israeli army, accustomed to interventions in occupied territory for ten months, it was necessary to act quickly and preventively. The military operation is however strongly criticized by several European countries.
