The Israeli army announced on Sunday June 16 a “tactical” interruption of its military offensive in the south in the Gaza Strip. Objective, to facilitate the circulation of humanitarian aid.
The news spread during morning prayers in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli army will secure a humanitarian road a few kilometers inside the territory, going from Kerem Shalom to the European Hospital. In this axis, the Israeli army will no longer carry out operations between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m., so that humanitarian trucks can pass.
Israeli authorities say the number of trucks entering the Gaza Strip has doubled compared to February. However, chaos and bombings prevent the distribution of this humanitarian aid. The break is welcomed with satisfaction by NGOs. The Israeli army clarifies that this tactical pause would in no way be the start of a ceasefire.
