A man living in the Var is suspected of having organized a scam to obtain free and autographed player jerseys from football clubs, according to information collected by franceinfo on Friday May 20. According to the targeted football clubs who denounced the maneuvers on social networks, this man movingly staged his son by pretending that he was seriously ill.

In a video seen by franceinfo, the young boy, sitting on a stool facing his father, speaks to the staff of a club. “I’m going back to the hospital on Thursday morning to have heart surgery on Saturday.says the child. And I wanted to know if you would like to offer me your autographed match shirt.”

Thomas Félix, the communication manager of the club of Bourg-en-Bresse (National) is moved. He sends a jersey with a good heart and even offers the boy to record a new video. “The father authorized his son to be filmed to send an affectionate message on the networks”, he recalls. Everyone then salutes the nice gesture of the club, but this massive distribution causes an unexpected consequence.

Several National and L2 football clubs realize that they too have received a request from the young boy and his dad. But the scenario varies. When it is sometimes a question of a heart problem, another time the child is suffering from leukemia.

Maxime Malovry, from the FC Chambly (National) football club in Oise, also fell into the trap. He says to himself “first shocked and stunned, and second a little uncomfortable, because we were taken for idiots whathe reacts furiously. Us and all the other clubs. I also feel sorry for the little one, because he didn’t ask for anything. I think he must be 8-10 years old”. The suspected scam father has pleaded with clubs to remove their posts about the case, and promised to return all the shirts to them.
