Rickman shared, “I asked him: ‘Could you take a look at this script, because it’s horrible? And I need good lines.’ And that’s what he did, with pizza, eggs, and bacon spilling all over the script.”
Once the dialogues were polished, Rickman kept the changes a secret, only informing the film’s director, Kevin Reynolds. This decision allowed him to capture genuine reactions from his co-stars during filming. “Nobody but him knew. And I knew it worked because when I left the camera, I could see about 80 crew members trying to hold back their laughter,” the actor recalled.
