In Iceland, a volcanic eruption began on Wednesday August 3 barely forty kilometers from Reykjavik. At this stage, there is no impact on air traffic. The eruption of the Fagradalsfjall attracts a few curious people.
The spectacle is grandiose and terrifying at the same time. Near the visitors, a bubbling Icelandic black earth from which lava continuously gushes out, up to 15 m high. An impressive volcanic eruption that attracts the curious. “I had to sit and cry. It was so beautiful, so moving. It’s the raw power of our planet”says a woman.
After several days of shaking, the earth finally cracked on Wednesday August 3, in this valley southwest of Reykjavik. This is the same region that experienced a historic eruption last year. “This one is different with this lava and these huge fountains spurting out in the middle. I really like it”, explains a woman. This new phenomenon confirms the resumption of volcanic activity on the peninsula after eight centuries of dormancy.
