More than 12,000 homes are still without power since the ice storm that swept through southern Quebec on Wednesday.

According to the latest report from Hydro-Quebec, at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, 12,721 customers were still without power across the province.
The Montreal region remains the region most affected by blackouts with 8,851 households plunged into darkness, ahead of Outaouais (2,576), Laval (690) and Montérégie (484).
Hydro-Québec deployed some 1,600 workers to restore service to customers still without power seven days after the devastating storm.
“The objective is to try to settle this today,” said Francis Labbé, spokesperson for Hydro-Québec, in an interview on Qub radio on Tuesday morning.
“It could be that there are still some breakdowns [à des endroits] where, for example, we have a lot of damage to settle before we can start repairing. That’s what we’ve seen since [lundi]fairly complex cases,” he said.

Mr. Labbé took the opportunity to remind that his teams are aware that “it is difficult” for Quebecers who are still without power.
“We understand that it is very long and that it is hard on morale.”
Recall that nearly 1,125,000 Quebec homes have been affected since Wednesday due to the ice storm that hit several regions of Quebec, including the south of the province.
