Montrealer Kim Clavel will fight for world titles again, since Groupe Yvon Michel confirmed on Wednesday that the boxer will face Argentina Evelin Nazarena Bermudez for the IBF and WBO light flyweight titles on October 7 at Place Bell.
Clavel, 32, is the No. 1 contender for both organizations after finding her way back to victory on May 12 by defeating Naomi Arellano Reyes.
She had previously lost her WBC belt by losing by judges’ decision on January 13 to WBA champion Yesica Nery Plata.
Clavel (17-0-1, 3 K.-O.) will therefore be in a third career world championship fight (1-1). For his part, Bermudez (18-1-1, 6 K.-O.), 26, will be on his 10e world championship bout (7-1-1).
Bermudez started her career in 2016, at the age of 19, and became world champion in 2018 at just 21 years old.
She lost her IBF and WBO belts in a majority decision loss to Costa Rican Yokasta Valle. However, she immediately gave up these titles, which allowed Bermudez to regain them last March against Mexican Tania Enriquez.
