Ian Boucard, the outgoing deputy Les Républicains was re-elected in the 1st constituency of the Territoire de Belfort. He got into politics as aparliamentary assistant to Damien Meslotthe mayor Les Républicains de Belfort.
He was then elected municipal councilor of Belfort in 2014. Then succeeded his mentor, Damien Meslot, by becoming departmental secretary of the Les Républicains party in the Territoire de Belfort.
This is the only one re-elected among the three outgoing deputies who represented themselves in the North Franche Comté. He is also the one who obtained the best vote: he received 61.61% of the votes against 38.39% for Christophe Soustelle, his opponent from the National Rally.
A stormy first deputation
Except that Ian Boucard has a history with the legislative elections.
His first election in 2017 was canceled by the Constitutional Council on December 8, 2017 because it had distributed two leaflets falsely appearing as coming from La France insoumise and the National Front. He was still re-elected in 2018 with 59% of the vote in the second round, but was sentenced in June 2020 to a fine for “fraudulent maneuvers” by the Besançon Criminal Court.
