The #MeToo movement has freed women’s voices. Since then, many actresses, singers and presenters have denounced the rapes and other attacks they suffered. Not long ago, Judith Godreche
also took the decision to file a complaint against the director Benoît Jacquot
for “violent rape of a minor under 15 years of age”.
“The little girl in me can no longer keep silent about this name“, she wrote on her Instagram account before denouncing “the influence” that the filmmaker 25 years her senior had on her. “His name is Benoît Jacquot. He still manipulates those who could associate their names with mine. Testify. He threatens to take me to court for defamation”, added the actress. And to continue: “Who has respect for BJ practices? Known to everyone for 35 years? Who endorses and validates? The agent who represents him? That he introduced me to when I was 14? Its producer? Same thing. […] Where does this feeling of impunity come from? Everything was known. And the same ones are on the maneuvers“. On January 6, she also admitted to fearing that she would be “turn your back” for his frankness. Words that she reiterated this Monday, February 12, 2024 on the set of C Tonight on France 5.

The end of a great career?
“I will never work again”she said. “I attack a lot of established things. I attacked Télérama on my poor little Instagram account, I attacked Cahiers du Cinéma, I just talked about the CNC, I’m talking about the State which, when this documentary was shown in 2011 (The Interdict, the Ruses of Desire, editor’s note), the Paris prosecutor’s office did not open an investigation when it saw a man on television say: ‘I’m sleeping with a minor and I don’t give a damn about the law. And besides, cinema is a cover for illicit trafficking of young girls‘. You could say I’m not making many friends,” assured the 51-year-old actress who can still count on influential personalities like Alexandra Lamy, Faustine Bollaert and Vahina Giocante.
