True to form, the dandy rocker with shaggy, white hair came to the set of 8:30 p.m. on Sunday by Laurent Delahousse, on France 2, this Sunday June 4, 2023, accompanied by one of his favorite guitars. Facing the journalist and actor Reda Kateb, his little live is expected at the end of the show… For his new rock album, of course, but also tinged with pop and blues, he says he has delivered a lot of himself: normal, the latter is called In the movie of my life. The artist, solo since 1986 and the separation of the members of the cult group Phone(Corinne Marienneau, Richard Kolinka and Jean-Louis Aubert), at the age of 69, is still successfully pursuing his personal musical adventure, like, as Laurent Delahousse points out to him, other “seniors” such as Bruce Springsteen or Mike Jager. “I don’t know if it’s thanks to rock or more simply to music…“ he wonders.

“I think I was 10 years old my father gave me his camera”
What is certain is that his passion remains intact… When Alice Taglioni’s companion asks him about the genesis of his new album, the latter immediately replies: “I don’t make an album, I write songs from time to time, and when it’s time to make an album, when there are about twenty, I say to myself…” he answers in his deep and soft voice at the same time.

And to explain how he had drawn on his own memories and archives during his creation: “In fact, this ‘film of my life’, this song, it was a guy I didn’t know called Frédéric Château who lives in Japan, in Osaka, who sent me this piece and I said to myself: ‘it’s crazy how he knows me this guy!’ and I tried to sing it, and I liked it right away!” An immediate crush that made him think back to his childhood: “So I went to rummage through a box lying around my house, there were lots of super-8 tapes, at the time, I think I was 10, my father gave me his camera, and I was making films all the time. And I didn’t really know what was in that box but I went and bought myself a little projector and I got to see the movies, I was like ‘ok, it will stickit’s going to make a great music video for this song’”.
