The day after the publication of the investigation by the investigation unit of Radio France and the newspaper Le World on the actions of Nestlé to hide from the public that the water they pumped was contaminated and that they used prohibited purification systems, Éric Dupond-Moretti, Minister of Justice invited Wednesday January 31 by franceinfo, assures that “justice is seized and will shed light on this whole affair.”
According to this investigation, the government was aware of the matter since August 2021 and could have taken it to court. A confidential meeting took place in Bercy between representatives of Nestlé and the cabinet of Agnès Pannier-Runacher, then Minister Delegate in charge of Industry. “I didn’t know anything about it.” assures Éric Dupond-Moretti.
The minister insists that “the Minister of Justice – it’s called the separation of powers and it’s not nothing – cannot intervene in a matter which is now an ongoing affair. Justice in complete independence will shed light. If there have been a certain number of failures, whatever the level of these failures, things will be said,” promises the minister.
