“I want to continue to act for the French”, confides Monday May 15 Elisabeth Borne to franceinfo exclusively. The Prime Minister indulged in a few confidences during her return trip to Reunion Island, where she spent three days. “I carried out reforms, I know the elected officials, the Parliament, I can be useful to my country”also says the one who does not hide her desire to stay at Matignon.

In an offensive style, Elisabeth Borne castigates what she calls the “political microcosm, a world where men defend their backyard”, without naming anyone. The head of government also takes the opportunity to defend herself from being above ground: “I was CEO of a box, regional prefect, it’s not a shame to know the reality of the country”.

Give “positive signals”

Elisabeth Borne, who will celebrate her first birthday this week at Matignon, also returns to the pension reform, to the use of article 49.3 of the Constitution by her government, the use of which has been regularly denounced by the opposition. “Each time, a difficult moment to go back to the podium, under the boos… It’s very physical”she breathes, referring in particular to this moment of great tension in the National Assembly on March 16 when she used 49.3 to adopt the pension reform.

Tomorrow Tuesday May 16 and Wednesday May 17, Elisabeth Borne will meet the unions in turn, without an official agenda. “It takes a lot of tact in the resumption of dialogue”she assures. “They want to be able to negotiate, I make sure to give them positive signals on the method we want to put in place”concludes the Prime Minister.
