“I think we can get along with Gérard Larcher,” says Gérald Darmanin

Demonstrations are planned for May 1st. “There will be a maximum of police and gendarmes. [La proportion sera] maybe even a little more important”explains the Minister of the Interior, Gérald Darmanin, guest of the “4 Truths” of France 2.

Last week, Bruno Le Maire rose up against social fraud, making a link with immigration. “There is part of the social fraud that is done by foreigners, but not all of the social fraud obviously. […] Social benefits are important, they are normal, we have increased them, they are only there to help people who are in need, not to help people cheat”specifies the Minister of the Interior.

When is the Immigration Bill due to come before Parliament? “I want it to be as soon as possible. Obviously this year we have to have a bill passed by Parliament”, says Gérald Darmanin. And the Minister of the Interior added: “We are for a single text which allows both the fight against foreign delinquency, foreigners to have papers only if and only if they speak French and at the same time to integrate well those who are on our national soil. […] I think we can agree with Gérard Larcher on this point”.
