Applause and emotion in the hemicycle. “I thank you for standing with us to defend life”declared Volodymyr Zelensky at the National Assembly in Paris, Friday June 7. “Since the first hours of this aggression, I know that I can count on you. I would like to thank France for choosing the side of humanity in this war”continued the Ukrainian president.

“Emmanuel, Mr. President, I wanted to thank you for not leaving Europe without a leader at the decisive moment”, he added to his French counterpart. The Ukrainian head of state, visiting Paris, spoke to French deputies and politicians for 23 minutes. He felt that Europe was not “no longer a continent of peace”calling Russian President Vladimir Putin “common enemy” of his country and of Europe. “This battle is at a crossroads, this is the moment when we can all make history together”added the Ukrainian president.

Volodymyr Zelensky also spoke of the peace summit for Ukraine organized in Switzerland in mid-June. An event that could bring kyiv closer to “the end of the war”. This international conference will bring together more than a hundred countries and organizations, but not Russia.

“We have no right to lose”, said Volodymyr Zelensky, adding: “Can we win this battle? Certainly! We can. Ukraine and therefore Europe, and therefore France.”
