“I sincerely believe in this Olympic top 5”declared Tuesday January 23 on franceinfo Fabien Canu, former double world champion judoka and director of the National Institute of Sport, Expertise and Performance (Insep), after Emmanuel Macron judged “more attainable than ever” the objective he set for French athletes to reach the Olympic top 5 of the countries with the most medals at the Paris Games in seven months.

“He had already announced his desire for us to be in the Olympic top 5 next summer. It’s playable!”estimated Fabien Canu, who welcomes the arrival of the Head of State this Tuesday at the premises of Insep: “Athletes are not insensitive to this support, it’s important to know that there is a country behind you.”

“The current state of mind is very good and serene”he added, even if “paradoxically, for them, the Games are very far away because they have to seek their selection. The challenge is to manage the next seven months, not to do too much, to keep one’s nervous resources.”
