makes its comeback eight long years after the release ofTo our loving bodies. At the age of 44, the artist returns on March 1, 2024 with his new album titled Reply. A record which notably includes a title dedicated to his son, Nino. In full promotion of this long-awaited project, the one nicknamed the “chocolate woman”, recently spoke of her return to the musical scene during an interview given to The gallery this Sunday, February 25.
During his interview with our colleagues, the interpreter of I’m dragging my feet addressed the issue of male dominance within the music industry. A scourge of which she herself was a victim: “I don’t know if the silence is greater in the music world, if it’s just a question of time or if this scourge is less present there… At the same time, I don’t see why a professional body would be spared”, she confided. “It was less than ten years ago”
Subsequently, Olivia Ruiz returned to her own experience. The opportunity for her to reveal that she escaped two sexual assaults. “I suffered a chemical submission from a collaborator. It was less than ten years ago. […] Things are still quite unclear, but I know there was no sexual assault. I was sleeping, I woke up and I took it out straight away. I was lucky not to be knocked out enough and to be able to defend myself.”she explained.
Unfortunately, it was not the first time that the singer was the victim of such an attempt. A few years earlier, the young mother had already almost been the victim of an older man. “When I was 17, a terrible man who had a habit of hiring young female singers had tried to sexually assault me. Fortunately, a brave man, a technician, had stuck it to the wall”. Terrible revelations…
