I love Bruckner | The duty

I salute the report “first attempt” of the journalist Anne-Frédérique Hébert-Dolbec published in The duty of January 4, where she talks with Pascal Bruckner about his recent book The Rite of Slippers.

I love Bruckner since he ruled on the invention of the unconscious by Freudianism (Perpetual euphoria. Essay on the duty of happiness) and here I appreciate his analysis of the “gradual obliteration of public life” brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic, which, fortunately, would not have wiped everything out. According to him, the ordeal that a democracy like Ukraine is going through would make it possible to perk up (those are my words) the feeling of a collective identity hostile to dictatorships. It’s always that.
