“I know it’s going to annoy a lot of people”: Bénabar mercilessly with a cult singer

Guest, Thursday, February 3, of the show As an aside, singer Bénabar obviously talked about music. He returned to the release of his latest album entitled We don’t let go, released last year; just like the project rebellious happy. An album on which we can find a duet with Renaud. For the artist, no doubt, his eldest is a sacred monster of French song, much more than another figure yet essential on the airwaves…

Bénabar (52 years old) has a real admiration for his colleague Renaud (69 years old) – who has resumed a healthier life after the excesses – and does not hide it. While the host asked her, for comparison, if the match was “bent straight away“between Renaud and Gainsbourg, for the singer there is no comparison!”Ah yes, I am part of this minority of humanity that does not like Gainsbourg. I’ve never been touched… It’s not a crusade and I recognize that there is talent, but I’ve never been a fan“, he first explained to justify his preference.

But Bénabar, whose real name is Bruno Nicolini, then drove the point home by detailing everything he doesn’t like around the late Serge Gainsbourg, who died in 1991; his daughter Charlotte prepares the opening of a museum to his glory, in Paris. “And then it always inflated the character Gainsbarre to me a little. And then the cult, it is perhaps the posthumous costume around it that inflated me, as if it were the alpha and the omega of French song, which I don’t don’t think at all. I find that there are a lot of facilities (…) I know that it will annoy a lot of people to say that“, he added.

Bénabar should therefore not cover songs by Gainsbourg during his tour, he who is currently performing all over France. The singer is notably expected on the mythical stage of the Olympia in Paris, on April 1st. He plans to meet his fans until the end of the summer, his final performance being scheduled for September.
