On January 19, 2022, actor Gaspard Ulliel died tragically at the age of 37. As explained by his family in a press release, the famous French actor died following a violent skiing accident that occurred the day before, while he was in the Rosière ski area (Savoie).
The days following the actor’s death, it was then revealed that he “collided with another skier (…) as he had just turned to the left, presumably to join his friends who were found”. It appears from the first testimonies and the observations made on site that the two skiers both fell to the ground. When help arrived, Mr. Ulliel was motionless, unconscious in the snow,” and “the other skier was unhurt,” we could read in the press release.
Very quickly, messages to pay tribute to Gaspard Ulliel rained in on social networks and his former partner Gaëlle Pietri, who is none other than the mother of his son, spoke on several occasions to honor his memory.

Released on February 4, 2024, the film “The Beast” is dedicated to Gaspard Ulliel… quite simply because he was to play the main role alongside his friend, the actress Léa Seydoux. He left me a voice message on WhatsApp, and he told me how much he liked the film. He was like, ‘I’m not saying that because we’re going to work together. I just wanted to tell you that I was very impressed.’ It was an extremely kind message.” she recalled for Indiewire.
“This is the last thing we shared. Then I got a film from my agent who told me that Gaspard had had an accident, and that he was in a coma. He told me : ‘I think it’s very, very serious.’” she then added. And to conclude: “After his disappearance, it was essential for me to do The beast, precisely towards him. But all along, I thought of Gaspard, he was there with us.“
