“It’s hell, I’m not able to accept that, drop Robert Laca. For now, I just want her out of there. All I want is for her to get out of there.”

Charlie Lacroix

The latter is the grandfather on the maternal side of Charlie Lacroix, 18 years old.

The young woman would have dialed 911 twice before perishing, because she was in a dead end apartment and was a prisoner.

Since the tragedy, Mr. Laca has been coming daily from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. to observe the work of the workers.

“I need to see what they are doing. If I stay at home, I don’t know what they are doing,” he explains.

“There at least I hear the chainsaw, I say to myself: “well they are working, it is progressing”. I saw pieces of wood thrown off the platform earlier. I watch all that, it’s not rational, but it’s the same, it makes me feel good, ”adds the grandfather.

A “comprehensive investigation”

The latter was a little reassured to see the authorities officially confirm the death of one of the victims of the fire on Wednesday.

It gives him hope that his granddaughter Charlie’s turn will eventually come.

“It is not normal that we have experienced a situation like that. There were things that happened, there will have to be an exhaustive investigation, ”he denounces, however.

The search operation will continue in the coming days in order to find the bodies of the other victims. A body was found on Tuesday, but we still do not know his identity officially. Five people are still missing, but the death toll could be higher.

One thing is certain: Robert Laca will be there every day until Charlie is found and he can begin his mourning.
