“I felt straight away that he had the potential to win,” confides Hervé Mathoux, Thursday June 6, presenter of “Canal Football Club” and telecrochet juror. At his side, the winner, Alexandre Araujo, rejoices: “It’s just a lot of pride, a lot of surprise, because we realize little by little that we are joining a big sports scene.” The “Au Micro” telecrochet, organized by Canal +, aimed to find a new voice to comment on Champions League matches.

It is therefore this young computer science graduate, working in sports management, who has made his dream come true, “a little abandoned” after a few unsuccessful attempts.

Despite his 25 years, Alexandre Araujo nevertheless distinguished himself by “a little more experience”says Hervé Mathoux. “He was commenting on e-sport, I think that helped him”he analyzes. “The commentary is still improvisation for an hour and a half”, describes the professional, and this candidate has demonstrated “lots of ease” lined with a “wealth”of a “vocabulary accuracy”, who hit him. The sports media journalist must demonstrate “of a great culture”recognizes the young winner, “he must be able to contextualize” but also “have a spirit of synthesis, this creativity to make people experience beautiful things”.

A job more complex than it seems for this young man from a family originally from Portugal, where football is for many “a true religion”. It is also another aspect of the television competition which revealed the young prodigy, says Hervé Mathoux, “showing behind the scenes of the profession”.

“We wanted, through the challenges, to show to all those who think it’s easy, that there is a lot of invisible work.”

The new recruit will join the sports editorial team for the start of the school year. He will take his place alongside other professionals to commentate on the 545 matches of next season, starting this summer, with a contract guaranteed for one year.
