American actress and model Olivia Munn, 43, revealed on Wednesday March 13 that she underwent a double mastectomy last year after being diagnosed with an “aggressive and rapidly progressing” form of breast cancer.

On her Instagram account, after appearing at the Oscars in Hollywood on Sunday with her companion – American comedian John Mulaney – Olivia Munn wrote: “I hope that by sharing this it will help others find comfort, inspiration and support for their own journey” with this disease.
The actress, known for her roles in franchises Iron Man, Lego, X-Menseries The Newsroomas well as the Daily Show by comedian Jon Stewart, explained that in February 2023 he produced a “negative genetic test” for the risks of cancer and “normal mammogram”.
Despite this result, her gynecologist preferred two months later to have her undergo a statistical assessment on her risks of contracting breast cancer taking into account her family history, or the age at which she had her child. The result showing a probability of 37%, Olivia Munn then underwent an MRI, an ultrasound and a biopsy which “reveals luminal B cancer in both breasts”a form of cancer “aggressive and fast-moving”. “Thirty days after that biopsy, I had a double mastectomy, going from feeling perfectly fine to waking up in a hospital bed after ten hours of surgery,” says the actress, posting photos of herself in the hospital, also explaining that she underwent four operations in total.
In May 2013, American superstar Angelina Jolie made global headlines by also revealing that she had undergone a double mastectomy.
