“I had a waking nightmare.”

Usually very discreet, Mylène Farmer

nevertheless agreed to make the front page of the latest issue of the magazine Gala. The opportunity for her to indulge like never before. During his interview with our colleagues, the 62-year-old artist spoke at length about his fascination with Marilyn Monroe, but also the impact of his career on his peers.

“I hear, with surprise and humility, the cover of some of my titles, in a very different style, by a new generation and the DJs. I am all the more sensitive to it as their approach is spontaneous. I always harbored the hope that my songs would speak to people of various ages and backgrounds”she confided before adding: “I believe that we forget nothing, that we rather compile events. Fortunately, memory, mine at least, is selective. It helps us move forward. I only remember what protects me and builds me.”

“A very bad memory”

In addition to these revelations, Mylène Farmer also returned to the cancellation of her concerts planned for Stade de France

on June 30 and July 1, 2023, a decision taken following the riots triggered after the death of Nahel

a 16-year-old teenager killed by a police officer after refusing to comply.

“We were leaving the hotel for the Stadium, when the car following mine signaled us to stop. The phrase fell: ‘It’s over, the concerts are cancelled’. I can still hear myself answering , in a barely audible voice, short of breath : ‘No, no, we have to go'”she remembered.

In 40 years of career, Mylène Farmer has rarely been forced to cancel concerts. Thus, this episode was particularly painful for the interpreter of Disenchanted.“We remained on the sidewalk, completely stunned, for about twenty minutes. I only thought of the disappointed, distraught public. I lived a waking nightmare. It remains a very bad memory, I admit”, she added. And to conclude: “Luckily, we meet again soon.” The star will indeed meet his audience on September 27 and 28 at the Stade de France, with a third date now planned for October 1.
