After having spoken at length with our colleagues from Psychologies, Charlotte Gainsbourg returned to her role as a mother. Describing herself as a “pale copy“of hers, Jane Birkin, the mother of Ben (24), Alice (19) and Joe Attal (10) expand a little more on the day her elders left the nest.” OThere were three of us in this big apartment, and I had a very strong depression“, she admits. A sudden departure for the director of the documentary Jane by Charlotte – in theaters on January 12 – who could count on the support of his mother to regain morale: “My mother held my hand, she was completely there for me. (…) When you have depression, the feeling of fear is constant. “
However, this is not the first time that Serge Gainsbourg’s daughter has confided to having experienced depression. During an interview with the Parisian last July, the director shared her concern following her return to France during the health crisis. “I have been in distress. Finally I was not doing very well on my return, and there, it is you who helped and supported me“She explained, addressing her mother who was also present. Fortunately, this time again, Charlotte Gainsbourg was also able to count on the help of her mother to no longer be so worried.
