She was the guest of Sud Radio, this March 20, 2024, the day after a historic court decision, in the mob cyberharassment that she suffered, in 2022, following a cabal launched by the rapper Booba against her . And Magali Berdah explained that she had been very disappointed by the comment made by Bruno Le Maire, the Minister of the Economy, against her.
“Coming from a minister I find it serious”
The latter, guest of C à Vous, felt that there was “phenomena of harassment via influencers, that there were scams, that all of this was not acceptable, that it had to be regulated by law”. And to add: “Did I say the word of this influencer or her name in this show? No, I spoke on the merits”. Namely, he said: “my role as Minister of the Economy and Finance is to guarantee consumer protection. Certainly not to get involved in influencer disputes which seem damn complicated to me.”
Magali Berdah responded to him on two points that she found particularly contemptuous. The businesswoman explained: “There is something that bothers me, it is that he says I did not say the name of this influencer. Well, my name is already Magali Berdah, you must not be hypocritical, the file was sufficiently publicized yesterday to find out who we were talking about. So I found the way he spoke about me very haughty. It’s not nice, and not very fair, because I didn’t attack him in my question, I just asked him if he understood the pain I felt when he said those words.”
And to add: “there is a second problem that really bothers me. It is to say today, with everything that has happened. With 28 prison sentences, to call it an influencer quarrel. And for me, trivializing cyberharassment, when there are people who commit suicide, when I almost died, when my daughters almost died, and saying it’s an influencer’s quarrel, coming from a minister I find that serious. In our time, we cannot downplay this affair, we are in a cyberharassment case where 28 people have just been sentenced to prison. Are we still saying that this is a quarrel between influencers? That is to say that each person who may commit suicide because of social networks because of harassment, we will say to them ‘but are you in a quarrel?’ but how are we going to combat cyberharassment in these cases? How are we going to be able to get there one day? All the work we have done has led to a minister saying it’s a quarrel.”
“It hurt my feelings last night, because I wasn’t asking for much”
To conclude, Magali Berdah clarified: “And it hurt me last night, because I wasn’t asking for much. I wasn’t asking for anything. I understand that people don’t see the violence of cyberbullying, because it’s invisible. And that’s what I’m saying from the beginning. But I just would have liked, that sometimes in life, you can be a minister, and you can say ‘Maybe I’ve advanced a little here’ and it doesn’t matter, because I understand it”. The ball is now in the minister’s court…
