“I fought three years”, “I cry”, Frédéric Lopez and his heartbreaking admission to Laury Thilleman

He is a unparalleled confidant for the guests he receives in A Sunday in the countryside on France 2. Frédéric Lopez, in his country house where the filming takes place, manages to surprise the personalities who come to play this particular exercise managing to take them out of their comfort zone. But this Monday, April 1st, he’s the 57-year-old host (he will have them this April 4, editor’s note) who was taken by surprise. While the former Miss France Laury Thilleman questioned her about her brilliant career,
Frédéric Lopez also spoke of a much less glorious period for him
. A failure that he did not understand, that he even had great difficulty digesting.

It all goes back to 2011, when France 2 broadcast a new program called Their secrets to happiness. Problem: the program is a monumental flop. “The channel buys eight issues and they stop after three. It does not work. The people are not there. I don’t understand” he explains adding that, for him, “what the scientists were saying was really interesting but people wanted to see something else“.

The failure was so bitter that Frédéric Lopez broke down and said he burst into tears at the time. “I’m crying. I don’t know why, but I don’t cry out of sadness. I think that’s all the tension. It doesn’t last long but here I am, letting myself go.” he tells his colleague from France 2. “The show is a terrible failure. I fought for three years and the morning after the third broadcast, there is the audience. There, I understand that it stops. That’s 7% market share, that’s not enough“.

His beautiful professional revenge

Fortunately, Victor’s dad quickly bounced back. No one has forgotten his incredible success in Rendezvous in Unknown Land, launched by him and presented today by Raphaël de Casabianca. Then, every Sunday, it’s a card that the host creates by presenting A Sunday in the Country. An event which attracts an average of 1.5 million viewers. A campaign for which he took a liking since Frédéric Lopez moved away from Paris, spending part of his life in the Cévennes: “Nature is a refuge, I live part of the time in an isolated hamlet, in the heart of the Cévennes national park: I love treeshe confided to Our time last year. A haven of peace for the facilitator who, today, must face a degenerative disease: otosclerosisresponsible for progressive deafness.
