“I am deeply angry. I find this scandalous and unacceptable”reacts Tuesday, November 7 on franceinfo Danièle Simonnet, LFI/Nupes MP from Paris, after the sidelining of the MP for Seine-Saint-Denis Raquel Garrido on Monday by the office of the LFI group at the National Assembly after her remarks on the functioning of the party and on Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

“We are taking disciplinary measures because ultimately, a small handful of office leaders are in political disagreement with what she expresses and that is what is unacceptable”, denounced Danièle Simonnet. Raquel Garrido denounces a ban equivalent to that of Adrien Quatennens then sanctioned by the group after being accused of domestic violence. “We do not resolve the expression of political disagreements in a movement, through disciplinary sanctions. It is healthy to have disagreements”recalled Danièle Simmonet.

The office must make an about-face

Raquel Garrido accused the office of the LFI group in the Assembly of having “self-proclaimed disciplinary body” to resolve political disputes. “Is it for having expressed disagreements with Jean-Luc Mélenchon that Raquel Garrido is thus sanctioned? It is totally unacceptable”, denounces Danièle Simmonet. She calls on the LFI group office to make an about-face: “The group would be honored to reconsider this decision which did not have to be made by an office. No decision can be taken without established concrete facts”she specifies.

“We can only be credible on the program we are carrying out for the Sixth Republic if we assume democratic internal functioning. To be rebellious is to be attached at all costs to the question of democracy”said Danièle Simmonet.
