“I felt like I didn’t have the right to see that”: Jean-Marc Parent shaken and moved by the documentary “I am: Celine Dion”

Jean-Marc Parent is a huge Celine Dion fan and was both touched and disturbed by watching the documentary. I am: Celine Dionwhere we see the diva of Charlemagne, who must deal with the stiff person syndrome, displaying a destabilizing vulnerability.

In one particularly powerful scene, the 56-year-old is seen crying as she experiences a crisis caused by her rare condition.

“There are two sides to this,” the comedian explains in a telephone interview. “There’s a very uncomfortable side, which makes me wonder: ‘How come I’m seeing something like this?’ I felt like I was standing in front of a half-open door, that I didn’t have the right to see that.
