“I feel guilty about my children…”, Marion Cotillard more cash than ever on her family and what she inflicts on her!

It is not always easy to be one of the greatest French artists and to be a perfect mother. And it is probably not Marion Cotillard who will say the opposite. The 47-year-old actress, through her success, leads a life at 100 miles an hour and this sometimes has an impact on the education of her children. At least, that’s what she laments when asked about it.

Indeed, in July 2021, she opened up to our colleagues from Madame Le Figaro. Present at the 75th Cannes Film Festival, she opened the competition with Annette, by Leos Carax. A musical that flirts with tragedy and the supernatural. A film in which she plays an opera singer “bright and adored”. A character who falls in love with Henry (played by Adam Driver: editor’s note) and whose relationship will have a real, toxic impact on the education and life of their daughter, Annette. A role that transcribes his everyday life? Almost, on certain points, according to his words.

Marion Cotillard: a job that encroaches on her private life?

“Annette also talks about this: famous parents, toxic towards their child”she confided to our colleagues before explaining: “In the film, the situation is destructive. To decide that your child will accomplish what you have not been able to accomplish yourself is a profound deviance: it is to consider that he is not a whole being, but a narcissistic self-extension. After describing the life of her character and the impact it has on her relationship with her daughter in Annette, Marion Cotillard confesses: “Obviously, there are plenty of times when I feel guilty towards my children”.

The supposed ex of Guillaume Canet nuances, however: “but like all mothers, not just actresses”. Despite her attention to “preserving the family unit”the actress starring inAsterix & Obelix: The Middle Kingdom recognizes that “the profession encroaches on this private sanctuary”. A finding that can be made “in all trades” after Marion Cotillard. In effect, “whether you are a business manager or a worker”if we are having a bad day, “it is likely that we bring home a frustration or anger that can be exercised against those we love”, she admitted. Whether she brings home frustration or anger, her children Louise and Marcel still seem very proud of their mother and happy by her side. And that’s probably the most important thing.
