“I don’t necessarily understand this strike”declared Wednesday February 14 on franceinfo the Minister responsible for Transport, Patrice Vergriete, while only one in two TGVs will run on Friday, Saturday and Sunday due to a strike by controllers.

“I am quite surprised by this strike because management has proposed bonuses and salary increases that many of our fellow citizens would still envy”explained the minister. “Particularly for the mobilized category, these are salary increases which were 17% in two years”.

“Respect the right to travel”

“The right to strike is sacred in France and it must be respected, but we also have the right to travel”continued Patrice Vergriete. “I hope that everyone, management and unions, will quickly return to the negotiating table to discuss and end this strike.” “I have always considered that the SNCF is one of our great national institutions, and as such, it assumes the responsibility of those who keep it alive.”

In detail, the service will be reduced by half on the TGV Inoui and Ouigo lines, as well as for the day and night Intercités, announced the SNCF. It will be “normal” for classic Ouigo trains and “disrupted” for European connections, such as Eurostar.
