“For love, let’s make HIV disappear”, this is the slogan of the new edition of the Sidaction operation which starts this Friday March 25 and until Sunday March 27. The opportunity to talk about AIDS and this epidemic which continues to kill every year in France. A disease that also affects young people, 14% of the discoveries of seropositivity concern people under 25 years old.
“We are a bit of a carefree generation”
However for these young people, HIV is far from being a major concern. When we ask the young people of Nice if they protect themselves against AIDS, the answer is clear. “It’s really something I don’t think about”explains a young woman. “I have a lot of friends who do not protect themselves. We are a bit of a carefree generation”, she says. “I don’t feel concerned by AIDS. People around me don’t realize it”, adds a second.
“A fairly old disease”
Some young people consider AIDS to be “a fairly old disease” who “less scary than before”. “It’s a treatable disease so it’s not serious at worst”, concludes a young Nice. According to Sidaction, 37% of young people surveyed say they are not afraid of AIDS.
