Like a Leonardo DiCaprio for the Oscars (nominated six times for an award with The Revenant: editor’s note), Christophe Maé seems to be experiencing the same situation with the Victoires de la Musique ceremony. But unlike his American counterpart, the interpreter of “It is where happiness” has been named 13 times in 15 years! And this for a single award, in 2008, after being elected revelation of the year. But since then, nothing, and yet it’s not for lack of trying. But what does the main interested party think? Does this lack of “recognition” affect him? Or is he being pragmatic?
The companion of Nadège Sarron has precisely granted an interview to Tele-Leisure to give the answer. And to believe his words, the artist revealed thanks to the musical “The sun King”does not seem more affected than that. “Honestly, I don’t care!“, he admits in all sincerity to our colleagues before giving some explanations. “I don’t compare. I don’t expect anyone’s approval. I know who I am. I’m not the best, but I love what I do, and I do it with heart”, he assures. Despite everything, he would obviously not be against receiving a new statuette.

Christophe Maé lives for his audience, for the awards
And who knows, the “consecration” could happen as early as next year. Maybe with his new album “Life is funny” which will be available from March 17, 2023. If Christophe Maé puts some hope in this new project, he nevertheless warns that he “do not record a record to win a Victoire de la Musique”. Indeed, his new album has a completely different purpose: “I’m making an album to get back on the road.”
Especially since the companion of Nadège Sarron has lived through a difficult period during the pandemic of COVID-19. In an interview given to Parisian in 2021, the 47-year-old artist has indeed confided that he lives for sharing with his audience. And that in case we take it away again “concerts”, as may have been the case during a period of confinement, he would not hesitate to put an end to his career. A stage seems much more important for Christophe Maé than receiving a Victoire de la Musique and that’s good!
