With a determined gaze, a calm tone, Vincent Viot takes the time to dissect the start of the season for US Orléans. The goalkeeper, who arrived this summer from Concarneau where he was crowned best National goalkeeper, gives us an optimistic look at the first five games of the USO (one victory for four draws).
“I don’t have fun doing these accounts there”, laughs Vincent Viot when asked how many points he has already saved this season. The goalkeeper multiplies the stops in particular against Nancy where he diverted a penalty. Vincent Viot symbolizes the good start of US Orléans nationally: “We work well as a team, everyone is committed to defending well. We had friendly matches, not necessarily in that sense. As soon as the championship started, we all raised our level of requirements and that gives beautiful things.”
This is one of our strengths at the start of the season: we manage to be very solid and united
Patience and ambition
Frustration, potential, solidity. The same qualifiers come back at the start of the season to analyze the USO meetings. A vision shared by Vincent Viot: “It’s important to have a good base because if we scored three goals per match, it would necessarily be more complicated. But it’s never acquired, it’s fragile, so we have to continue.”
Aware of the qualities of the Orleans group, Vincent Viot nevertheless believes that it will still be necessary a few games to settle : “We have to repeat it, we don’t have months and months all together. So it will still take time to find automation, it will eventually pay off.”
We are far from 100% of what we can give
His arrival in Orleans
He did not procrastinate. Coming to Orléans was very quickly recorded in Vincent Viot’s mind. “When I had the coach on the phone, he presented to me what he wanted to do. Xavier Collin told me about the recruitment he wanted to put in place, giving me a few names. It wasn’t windy. I tell myself that I did really well to trust him because because it’s not a dream seller like when there can be in football”, rejoices the goalkeeper.
I have always felt the atmosphere in the club from an outside point of view and I do not regret this choice at all
