Thomas de Bergeyck officiates on the Belgian airwaves of Bel RTL in the program Royal Square. This specialist in European monarchies, not very famous in France, unlike another Belgian, Bertrand Deckers who regularly appears on the set of TPMP on C8, was nevertheless the privileged guest of the show It starts today on France 2, this Friday, April 14, 2023. And in an interview published by our colleagues from Cine TV Review Thursday, April 13, the man wanted to come back to the recording of this program and the singular welcome that Faustine Bollaert had reserved for him. “I received a message from production support. I was invited to talk about my job as a journalist as close as possible to royalty and the greatest of this world. This is the theme of this issue. I was so surprised that when I recorded the show, I asked Faustine how she had come across me and she told me that they knew me in France. I was flattered, but I did not expect it at all”, first said the 46-year-old journalist.

“It’s even unsettling because she looks at you like…”

However, for his arrival as royal chronicler, Thomas de Bergeyck was surprised to be offered two full reports on him: one on his profession as a journalist specializing in monarchies and the other on his family roots. “The people in charge of the show made a whole photo montage where we see me with my parents, my grandparents. I had tears in my eyes. I do my job in a very humble way, I did not expect that they would devote two subjects to me in a program that was a hit in France. I was really moved,” he revealed to the Belgian magazine. But Thomas de Bergeyck also wanted to talk about Faustine Bollaert’s attitude during the recording. And the facilitator would have shown extreme … benevolence! “I was blown away by her. I thought she would read his questions on a teleprompter. No way. She doesn’t have a teleprompter. The first question is a card and then, it’s duefreestyle. She knows exactly where she is going. She is incredible.” And to conclude: “She is completely with you. She really listens to you, she does not have her eyes in the void. It is even destabilizing because she looks at you as if you were the most important person in the world (…) She records four shows in one day.” Compliments that should go straight to the heart of the main interested party!
