“I couldn’t anymore, I took the right drugs”: Thierry Lhermitte cash on his health which played a dirty trick on him

The trilogy of Bronzés, An Indian in the city, The Dinner of Cons… We can say it: since the beginning of his career almost 50 years ago, Thierry Lhermitte has amply demonstrated his comic talent, with the Splendid or solo. The actor, often very classy and almost a bit dandy, has always liked to play these bourgeois roles, often rather handsome boys, which suited him so well.

But recently, the actor who will celebrate his 70th birthday at the end of the year has experienced a small dark period, a depression on which he returned this Saturday at the microphone of RTL radio. Asked by Eric Dussart about his blues shots, since he is currently in full promotion for Audrey Dana’s next film, Men on the verge of a nervous breakdownhe said that he too had been there.

I couldn’t anymore, I was going crazy, he confided, explaining that this period took place “not so long ago“. A big depression transformed into a real burn-out. “It had to be a buildup. Nobody really knows, it’s the drop that broke the camel’s back, there were plenty of drops before and then one day, it overflows, that’s more what“, he then told. A problematic situation, which was resolved thanks to medical advice. “I took the right drugs, I talked to the right people. It’s especially when I found the right medicine, there it went very quickly, in just a few days“, he recalled.

Then remembering shows that “worried him“because he was afraid to be”judged like people who say nothing but nonsense“, he revealed that he now takes it with a lot more perspective, almost as a joke. A good way for him to get better and regain a taste for cinema! We will also soon find him on the big screen in this film about depression in men and surrounded by a prestigious cast: Ramzy Bédia, François-Xavier Demaison or even Marina Hands share the bill with him. In a few months, he will also find his friend Michèle Laroque in the sequel to Happy Retirement!a film released in 2019.
