The RN deputy from Montélimar was the guest of France Bleu Drôme Ardèche this Monday morning after the election of Jordan Bardella as head of the party. Lisette Pollet thinks that the one she calls by her first name will be a “excellent president” for the National Rally, he “embodies the renewal” and will know “be part of the continuity with your personal touch”. During this interview, she also spoke about the controversy linked to the remarks made by an RN deputy in the National Assembly.
Your colleague, the deputy Grégoire De Fournas, excluded fifteen days from the National Assembly after having dropped in session “that he (they) return (nt) to Africa”, do you approve of the sanction or not?
Lisette Pollet: Not at all. It is disproportionate because, in fact, he was sanctioned not for having said that but for having caused an uproar within the National Assembly which was disrupted.
However, are these words acceptable?
Lisette Pollet: Well, I’m going to be honest: I could have said it because he was talking about boats. It is true that currently there is a call for air. Do we endorse? For me, frankly, it’s modern slavery because we bring people in, we make them take risks, they risk their lives, some of them are dead. We hide the smugglers, the people who traffic, it’s human trafficking. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to accommodate everyone. Me, I could have said it, yes. He was talking about the boat, he was not targeting our colleague Carlos [Carlos Martens Bilongo, le député LFI qui s’exprimait au micro sur les migrants].
That’s your interpretation anyway…
Lisette Pollet: I was next to him [Grégoire de Fournas] That day. I too was surprised because I was on my computer watching something. And suddenly, we turned around because we did not understand what was happening. To tell you that he [le député LFI] was not targeted. He also understood it because he was ready to take up his question to the government. So I think, unfortunately, he was instrumentalized.
Lisette Pollet clarified during this interview that she had just found her premises in Montélimar, “not without difficulty”. She must collect the keys to her office in mid-November. And says she’ll split her time, “50% on Paris, 50% on the constituency”.
