“The comedy is over, enough is enough”, reacts Éric Borghini, member of the Comex, the executive committee of the French Football Federation (FFF), Thursday February 16 on franceinfo. He demands the resignation of Noël Le Graët, president of the FFF.
The day before, the Minister of Sports brandished the conclusions of the final audit, which confirms “behavioral drifts” of Noël Le Graët, president of the FFF. “He no longer has the necessary legitimacy to administer and represent French football”, said Amélie Oudéa-Castéra. Same speech with Éric Borghini. This member of the Comex since 2011 asks the president of the FFF “to have the lucidity to understand the gravity of the situation and to leave.”
Noël Le Graët has already been withdrawn from the FFF on January 11th. His future is now in his hands. He can either resign or decide to stay. Guest in the morning of RTL Thursday, February 16, the lawyer of the president of the FFF, Maître Florence Bourg, recalled that his client remained despite everything president of the FFF “until further notice”.
A resignation to cause a dissolution of the Comex
“If he does not resign, I will leave”, announces his former support Éric Borghini. “At least seven members of the Comex are ready to resign”, he assures. The departure of seven Comex participants (out of a total of 14 members, including 12 elected members and two ex-officio members) would lead to the dissolution of the Comex and therefore the departure of the president of the FFF.
If the Comex does not gather the seven necessary votes, Éric Borghini assures that the High Football Authority will convene “a general meeting of dismissal” against Noël Le Graët. “And the National Ethics Committee has clearly said that in this case it would seize the Disciplinary Committee”continues the member of the Comex on franceinfo. “The president cannot end his career like that, in the gutter”he concludes.
The Comex was to meet in an extraordinary general meeting this Thursday, but the GA has been postponed. The new date must be set this Thursday, February 16, according to Éric Borghini.
