“I am shocked by those who do not participate, I am not shocked by those who participate”declared, Friday November 10 on franceinfo, Christophe Béchu, Minister of Ecological Transition, regarding the march against anti-Semitism planned for Sunday.

“The controversy should be, according to him, about those who justify not going there, not about the fact that there are people who want to go there”continues the minister, who assures that he is not fooled: “However, I have no doubt of knowing who my adversaries are and those who will take advantage of a moment of reflection and republican unity to try to regain their virginity on the subject”. He adds, without ever citing the RN: “Certain political parties have as their heritage, as their basis, the hatred of others, the fact of stigmatizing and pitting communities against each other, it is a reality”.

Sunday’s march “must be a time of cohesion”

Christophe Béchu also says he is shocked by the fact that “some consider that coming together against anti-Semitism would be showing support for massacres”in reference to the message posted on X Tuesday by Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

“It saddens me”then launches Christophe Béchu, who regrets “the multiplication of anti-Semitic acts in France”but also that Sunday’s march is causing so much commotion: “That on a subject which should bring absolutely everyone together, we have a controversy over ‘who is coming?’ There were controversies yesterday, there will be some on Monday, let’s try to preserve this moment to stand together collectively.” The minister insists that on Sunday, “this is not a time of controversy, it must be a time of cohesion, in which we come together and in which we tell all the Republicans in this country that there are things that we cannot leave pass and to all citizens who feel threatened, that we are with them, stand up.”
