At 72, Josiane Balasko can boast of having conquered the French cinema industry. Passionate and versatile, the icon likes to surprise with her roles. On the screen or on the boards, the happy mother of two children shines whatever she does. However, his beginnings in the 7ᵉ art were not easy. Indeed, the star was the victim of grossophobia. “I remember when I played the first time at the café theatre, I had a one-woman-show where I was in a mini-skirt. And I had quite round thighs, it’s true”, revealed Josiane Balasko for “Paris Match” in 2021.

Many years after this sad episode, Josiane Balasko knew how to take her revenge. Attentive to current issues, the artist says she is relieved by the evolution of mentalities: “I don’t know if I’m a feminist, but I’m concerned by this fundamental question, from the benefits to the limits of a movement like MeToo […].”
Josiane Balasko is also delighted that some of her films have left their mark: “Behind its comedy exterior, I would like us to say that Gazon Maudit was also a film that helps the cause, without being reductive either.” On April 24, admirers of the actress will be able to find her in “The meetings of the Papotin” on the second channel.
