I am ashamed | The duty

I am ashamed to belong to the human species before the horror of the war in Ukraine and the cowardly response from the West. The economic sanctions imposed on the Russian aggressor are equivalent to the fines imposed on motorists who violate the Highway Code. Isn’t the Code of Peace worth more?

I am ashamed to live on this continent where the President of the United States, Joe Biden, by announcing before the start of hostilities that not a drop of American blood would be shed for Ukraine, thus gave the green light to the ambitions of Vladimir Poutine. While Washington has relentlessly issued apocalyptic warnings of an impending invasion, Joe Biden also made it clear on February 25 that Americans would not be willing to fight. And he even refused to participate in an exchange that would have offered 29 Polish fighter jets to the Ukrainians. Let them therefore continue to flee their country by the millions and to fight heroically, alone, with insufficient armament.

I am ashamed, as an ex-European, of the cowardly response of the rulers of this continent directly affected by the ferocious invasion. Six countries have a common border with Ukraine, while four adjoin Russia. Both the European Union and NATO have modeled their position on that of their boss American. Nobody dared to say to Putin: “Keep your tanks at home, otherwise I will intervene. »

I am ashamed to belong to the human species as a survivor of the Second World War (44 million dead), and more particularly as a survivor of the Holocaust (6 million dead), who foolishly believed that this infernal massacre would mean the end of the wars.

I am ashamed to belong to the human species when it does not take into account the current and future misdeeds of global warming and works to self-destruct by exploiting ever more fossil fuels. When the pollution produced by the rich countries of the northern hemisphere directly affects the vulnerable populations of the southern hemisphere who produce the least.

These distressing observations lead me straight towards anarchism. First reaction: I will no longer vote in elections. On the other hand, I bring my contribution, I received the three doses of a vaccine against COVID, I wear the mask and I use public transport to get around.
